Welcome to Y4 Cherry Class! 

We are looking forward to a fantastic start to the new school year, with lots of exciting activities planned.

Our PE day will be Wednesday and this term Cherry Class will be going swimming. More information to follow.

Please ensure your child has appropriate kit with them on that day.

Every day: planners (once issued) and water bottles.

Our Literacy Texts for this half term are:

'Boy in the Dress' by David Walliams and 'The Wolves in the Wall' by Neil Gaiman.

                                          

Children - don't forget to complete your four reads every week and earn extra Dojo Points!                             

In Science, we will be learning about electricity, finding out about how electricity flows around a simple circuit and using our knowledge and skills to make a torch.

In History, we are studying the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain, considering how and why the Romans invaded Britain, who was Boudicca and why did she rebel, and learning about life in Roman Britain and the legacy left behind.

In Geography, we will learn about European countries and their famous physical and human features.

In Art this term, we will focus on developing drawing skills as we record lines, shapes and details from careful observations for a still life composition.

  

In Computing, we will explore the internet, sharing information and websites, whilst developing our understanding and awareness of staying safe online.

In Spanish this term, we will focus on greetings, numbers, seasons, months and dates.

In Maths, we will begin by extending our understanding of place value, moving on to addition and subtraction skills, area and multiplication and division. Year 4 has a heavy focus on committing multiplication and division facts to memory, with quick recall tested later on in the year as part of a formal assessment process. To give your child the best chance of success, please ensure that they spend time each week practising their multiplication tables.
