Community Links

Brookfield Junior Academy has created some strong links and a sense of belonging in the Swinton Community. We work closely with ou Local Borough Councillors who regularly visit our school. Cllr Cusworth is our Chair of Governors.

Early Help

We work closely with our colleagues in Early Help that are based next-door at The Brookfield Centre. They offer a range of support, advice and activities for children, young people and their families.

They can be contacted on  01709 334 458

South Yorkshire Police

Police Officers are regular visitors to Brookfield Junior Academy and they thoroughly enjoy their time within our academy. Officers deliver bespoke, age appropriate sessions to classes throughout the year. They have a big emphasis on bonfire night and children keeping safe.

Food banks

Mrs Moore has made strong community links with local food banks who she regularly contacts when our families are struggling financial to purchase food.

Swinton Lock Activity Centre are able to provide families living in Swinton and Kilnhurts with food parcels for those families in need. For any of our families that live in Mexborough, we liaise with Mexborough Food bank. Both charities have been a great support to our families who experience financial issues.

Local churches

Each year we visit our local churches to celebrate Harvest and Christmas. These are whole school events where everyone walks to church and takes part in the celebration. At Harvest, we gather food to donate to the local food banks. Our local churches are St Margaret's Church and St Johns Methodist Church.

HAF holiday activities

Rotherham Council delivers a successful HAF holiday scheme for eligible children. Positive Impact Sports have delivered sports and craft sessions at Brookfield Junior Academy during the 2022/2023 academic year. Eligible children will be issued with a unique code through school or via their support worker. For further information and to check if your child is eligible for a place, please contact Mrs Moore.

Positive Impact Sports now offer after-school care until 6pm. This is a chargeable service and discounts are offered for additional siblings. Please contact the school office for further information.

Other companies and groups deliver a wide range of activities at numerous venues across Rotherham.
